About this Short Film
The Bookshop follows Lisa, a warm and vibrant young woman who meets Andy at the local library. Andy is a quiet, gentle man who conceals a serious secret beneath his easy smile. As their relationship blossoms through shared laughter, honest conversations, and a night spent stargazing in the cold, Lisa falls completely in love. But Andy has been hiding the truth: years working in the mines have left him with black lung disease. When Andy passes away, Lisa is left to find her way through grief, supported by her best friend Yiana and a psychologist, and ultimately guided by a final letter Andy left behind. In it, he urges her to live, to build the bookshop they dreamed of together, and to carry their love forward. The Bookshop is a story about love, loss, and the courage it takes to honour the people we lose by living fully in their name.
