About this Short Film

In My Head follows members of Wallara’s Performing Arts crew as they peel back the layers of how society often sees disability. Filmed at Sages Cottage by Wallara’s Media Group, the film blends performance, personal expression, and visual storytelling to reveal the rich inner worlds, talents, and individuality that exist beyond labels. Both groups worked together to frame that identity is far more than what meets the eye. In My Head was created to challenge the narrow ways people with disabilities are often perceived. Too many individuals are defined by what others see on the outside, rather than by their passions, abilities, and inner stories. Our inspiration came directly from the performers at Wallara’s Sages Cottage, whose creativity and honesty deserved a platform that reflected their full selves. The film was created collaboratively by Wallara’s Performing Arts crew and Media Group at Sages Cottage, a creative and inclusive space where adults with disabilities develop skills, confidence, and artistic expression. The Performing Arts team brings years of experience in storytelling and stage work, while the Media Group is actively learning professional filming, editing, and production techniques. We wanted to thank you for accepting our film and for the opportunities you provide to the community with this film festival.
