My Nervous System (2026), film still

My Nervous System

About this Short Film

The film is combining Window of Tolerance in the Polyvagal Theory and Zone of Regulation. The aim is to help us understanding big feelings. Some people can relate their feelings to emotions, some others understand better when using energy to explain their feelings. The colour code from Zone of Regulation is adopted to explain big emotions (red), low energy (blue), and feeling “just right” (green). Animals is used in the Polyvagal Theory, and anyone can imagine their own animal as their nervous system. Here we have Tiger for red zone (high energy), Bear for blue zone (low mood), and Turtle for green zone (feeling just right). All three animals are good, which also means that all feelings are normal. We cannot stay in one zone, but we can recognise which animal are we at, and respond safely. When we understand what is happening in our body and brain, we can take better care of ourselves.
