About this Short Film
Together we grow (2023) from South Gippsland Specialist School, Australia, is a short film that celebrates ability, learning and connection within a school community. Tender and positive in tone, it places themes of inclusion, achievement and skill-building alongside the realities of intellectual, cognitive and physical disability. Viewers will recognise the everyday moments that matter: teamwork, classroom life and growing confidence among teenagers. The film sits naturally within the Focus on Ability International Short Film Festival, where stories that highlight the strengths and achievements of people with disability are shared. Together we grow invites audiences to reflect on inclusion and the simple power of being together.

Growing up in NSW my mother worked at Eric Woodward special school and on school holidays I spent time there with her. I was only young and sometimes had difficulty identifying the kids that were any different from myself. I have fond memories of that school and its special students. They made it a special school without them it was just a building. I felt privileged to have seen your film. Thankyou.
A beautiful film Well done to the team at SGSS. Such a simple message sometimes the simple messages are the most powerful . Together we Grow has so much more meaning to me now. I loved the enthusiasm and love surrounding this film. I'm Korumburra born and bred and we've also created a film for FOA in our business Loki and Me. Wow That is 200 the way to . Your film was beautifully edited highlighting how everyone can reach their potential and beyond no matter what. My eldest son has down syndrome....its such a small aspect of his life. His family friends and all that he accomplishes are what means everything to him and us. Thanks for a great boost to my day
